ROCKET MAN -- SHATNER vs STEWIE

In 1978 WILLIAM SHATNER did an artsy (READ: bad) rendition of his interpretation of ELTON JOHN's ROCKET MAN.

Nearly 25 years later, THE FAMILY GUY crew slipped in a mocking reference to Shatner's performance when they animated STEWIE recreating the event.

Rocket Man -- Shatner vs Stewie

Scott O'Leary, thanks for the post.

[Maybe Shatner's "performance" is better than David Hasselhoff's.]

I had always wondered what the heck that was all about. It's so hard to believe, though - not just the performance but the televised, black-tie awards show just for sci-fi movies with Bernie Taupin presenting. WTF? This was way before every cable network had an awards show.

By far one of the best Family Guy spoofs. Someone please tell me though, who saw Shatners' original "performance" in the first place??? Those writers must have had some boring lives in the 70's....which brings me to the my next point: Pretty impressive special effects for the 70's!
