(From Videography Magazine)
At first glance, a 2.5-inch IPOD screen seems awfully small for video viewing.
On second thought, however, when viewed from a foot away,
it creates exactly the same size image on the retina as a 25-inch TV viewed from 10 feet.
If only vision were restricted to eyes, there'd be no problem.
Unfortunately, the brain gets involved.
Hold your hand about a foot in front of your face. Now move it another foot farther away. It looks smaller from 2 feet than
from 1, but it doesn't look half the size.
Knowing what size your hand is, your brain prevents your visual system from making it look too small.
APPLE just needs to convince the brains of IPOD owners that their screens are enormous. Then again, maybe brains aren't that important.
Apple sold a million video downloads between their introduction on October 12th, 2005 and the end of the month, so, when it comes to vision, maybe the eyes have it.
