HEADLINE Noise

(From The New York Post -- By Don Kaplan)

A small fire sent two CNN HEADLINE NEWS anchors scrambling out of their studio Tuesday -- live on TV.

A light that exploded on the air caused the fire. The network switched to a pre-recorded tape while the fire was put out.

"We had an actual fire," anchor CHUCK ROBERTS told viewers after returning to the air about 15 minutes later. "Flames were shooting out. We had to take a pause. Everything is cool, and we're back with the news."

His co-anchor, LINDA STOUFFER, was in the middle of a report on guns when a loud pop could be heard overhead. She coolly tried to continue broadcasting but, after a few seconds, Roberts was heard off-camera saying, "We're outta here."

A moment later, cameras showed the anchors being rushed off the set by a technician.
