(From Sports Business Daily)
ESPN and MIRAMAX FILMS have jointly acquired North American rights to the soccer documentary ONCE IN A LIFETIME: THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF THE NEW YORK COSMOS, according to GREGG GOLDSTEIN of THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
Miramax plans a spring release, with an ESPN telecast "tentatively scheduled for this summer to coincide with THE WORLD CUP."
The documentary, via GREEENE STREET FILMS and PASSION PICTURES, is narrated by MATT DILLON and "shows the Cosmos' ascent set against the decadent, crime-ridden backdrop of 1970s New York, as well as its decline along with the (NAS) in the early 1980s."
