Avid, FCP And The Younger Generation

(From The Yahoo Avid User's Group)

Avid was a kind of glue.

Its higher price point kept the kiddies out of the pool.

Adult swim is over.

Our tools are now the kids tools.

It's hard to form communities around that.

Take it from the moderator of the FINAL CUT PRO (FCP) USER'S GROUP. He get a lot of crap from rejected IMOVIE jocks who want tips for their goth snowboard videos set to MARILYN MANSON music.
[XGames can you hear me?]

Uh...no, you can't join the rest of us editors.

We're all comfortable with our warm fuzzy Avids.

Change sucks.

It sure seems like "we" have become the mindless numbed robots portrayed in the 1984 Macintosh commercial and FCP users "the enlightned ones."
