Don't Forget, 89 Frames

(From The Yahoo Avid User's List)

During the early days of AVID editing we had some animation elements delivered to us on Beta SP for offline. The job required building some matte keys and dissolving between segments. Pretty easy stuff. Probably should have gone straight to online, but I was young and wanted to make a good impression.
[Okay. That part's a lie.]

Anyway, at one point I stuck in a 90 frame dissolve.

The executive producer said, "How fast was that dissolve?"

"90 frames," I answered.

"What's the next fastest?" he barked.

"89 frames," I replied.

"Let's see that!" he demanded.

I left it at 90.

"Perfect!" he stated.

A few days later the executive producer caught me going into the online suite to make some additional changes to the project.

"Don't forget," he reminded. "89 frames."

Believe me. I didn't forget.
