Video On The Internet

"Video" on the internet is slowly becoming watchable.

Although I still laugh my ass of every time I read some prognosticator claiming physical media is dead and we'll soon be watching stuff streaming off of the internet.

Well, not from my internet.

I'm lucky to get 1.3 mb/second and the fact is that an HD movie will run anywhere from 20 to 50 gigs in file size.

But I digress.

When APPLE announced its new G5 IMAC and IPOD (which plays video) it just happened to streamed the announcement across the net. It looked pretty good and didn't skip.

You can check out the streaming video announcement here.

They're using H.264 to encode some stuff now -- no more SORENSEN! The file sizes are pretty small -- they're 640x480 and look pretty decent.

Click on the links to the ads on the top of this page and check them out.

You'll need the latest version of QUICKTIME to view.

You can download them and blow them up to examine more closely.

Kraig Bailey, thanks for the post.
