MARY-KATE OLSEN, a sophomore at NEW YORK UNIVERSITY, is bolting academia for a spell.

"Mary-Kate Olsen has taken a leave of absence from New York University to focus on her increasing responsibilities as co-president of DUALSTAR ENTERTAINMENT GROUP and to pursue personal interests," her publicist told PEOPLE MAGAZINE.

Mart-Kate's twin, ASHLEY OLSEN, the other co-president of DUALSTAR, will remain at NYU.

Mary-Kate spent six weeks last summer at a treatment center for an eating disorder, before beginning her freshman year at NYU.

When she and her sister turned 18, they assumed the role of president of DUALSTAR.

Each twin is estimated to be worth more than $150 million.
