(From The Avid Yahoo User's List)
As HD is becoming a reality, I'm starting to realize companies like ECINEMA and SONY with their expensive LCD monitors (SONY SDM-P234B 23" LCD -- $1600) may have it right, and "you guys" out there with your $35,000 SONY HD CRT monitors are in dreamland.
You're color correcting for an image that NO ONE will ever see -- no ad agency, no corporation, no board room, no consumer. NO ONE except THREE color correction facilities in Los Angeles and one in New York City.
Maybe we should be monitoring on LCDs instead of CRTs.
The concept in using a good HD monitor isn't trying to make it pretty for the folks in Iowa who have their TV tuned green.
The concept is to make it appear the same green as the show before it and the show after it.
It's all about consistency.
