(From The Yahoo Avid User's Group -- By Paul Shields)
I'm on an AVID SYMPHONY running Version 5.0.5 and loving the RT MOVING MATTE feature on the show I'm finishing at the moment. But its achilles heel is making itself known quite strongly. I make a matte, it plays fine. I come to play to tape and instead of my graphic, I get a big screen full of WRONG FORMAT which, frankly, makes me look like a jerk in front of my client.
I think I know what's doing it -- it's the DSK FORMAT in the DIGITAL CUT TOOL which is set to 16:9 for all my titles etc. There's no way to choose to make a 16:9 RT MOVING MATTE so I'm pretty certain this is the problem. I haven't had chance to test this set to 4:3 as that would make all my titles go WRONG FORMAT on me instead which is no better.
The solution to the problem I've found is to promote the RT MATTE to 3D thus eliminating the DSK from the equation. Of course, this involves remembering to do that every time and there is no way to tell which ones are 3D without sitting on every single one in effects mode one by one. This is very annoying.
So, representatives of AVID -- Any solutions?
I can't EXPERT RENDER the things and a RENDER ALL is out of the question. I could put them all on their own track and render, but when promoted to 3D they work like a charm and I'd like to keep using them. I trust that even if there's no workaround on v5 or a patch coming for MERIDIAN SYMPHONYS (FX: Canned laughter) that this problem will go away on SYMPHONY NITRIS?
