AVID MARQUEE TITLE TOOL Literature

(From The Yahoo Avid User's Group)

AVID's MARQUEE TITLE TOOL definitely has a learning curve. One of the best ways to get to using it quickly is to riff on the preset design and animation templates which already exist.

One of the first jobs I ever did on MARQUEE was to take a news animation from the early days about a hurricane or a tornado or something and revise some of the elements. In about 20 minutes, I had a pretty complex animation which looked very "network." The client loved it.

THE DVD ON MARQUEE by STEVE BAYES contains a bunch of professionally designed templates created just for Steve's DVD. You can start with those as a launching pad.

As for the training DVD -- It's not bad, but it's not great either. It's also listed at almost $500. Pretty high, considering the price of other training DVD's out there.

It only contains about a 1/2 hour of video training on it and seems rushed. The other "goodies" you get are not fantastic.
A good designer can dissect them to learn a lot about the functions of the program.

There's a version of the AVID MARQUEE MANUAL online (over 600 pages with tutorials) on AVID's website.

Something to keep in mind, if you are doing animation, try to
use another program to put soft drop shadows on the text (BCC or SAPPHIRE) -- it takes forever to render in MARQUEE with too many attributes.
