NATALIE MERCHANT Retrospective 1995-2005

Following a phenomenal early run in the '80s and '90s with alt-rock sensations 10,000 MANIACS, NATALIE MERCHANT went on to even greater success as a solo artist. Her emotive vocals and literate songs have established her as one of the most distinctive and popular women in contemporary pop-rock.

Hear her first-ever solo BEST OF COLLECTION, compiled by Natalie herself, that beautifully highlights her socially conscious and melodious signature style.

Check out NATALIE MERCHANT RETROSPECTIVE 1995-2005 at either iTunes.com or Rhino.com.

I didn't know you were a Natalie Merchant guy Labay. I think she fell off the table when she went solo, but then again, I had to play "Carnival" (and its evil twin, "Jealousy") about 4,000 times on KC 101 in the mid-'90s. The vibrant, meaningful songs of 10,000 Maniacs were replaced with overproduced schlock for the masses - the equivalent of a Jerry Bruckheimer movie.

Other thoughts on Natalie Merchant:

1) She defines the phrase "Strangely Attractive"

2) We need to have her and Mariah Carey appear in a Monoco/O'Hurley style dance-off to see who, in fact, is the more hideous dancer and needs to fire any director who tries to make her dance in a video. Mariah might come up short on this one by breaking out her chicken-style moves she pioneered in the "Someday" video.

That is all.

Carl,

Yep, I'm a NATALIE MERCHANT fan. Part that is from SMALLFIELD subjecting me to her music in college and over the years -- over and over again.
I agree, her earlier work with 10,000 MANIACS is still her best.

I also agree with your "Strangely Attactive" thought about Natalie. I've always wanted to catch her live sometime to see how she's -- both looks and sounds -- in person.

As for the dancing thing -- Natalie should stick to visuals like walking along railroad tracks, beaches, or in amusement parks (picturing all shot in Black and White) in her videos and not dance. (Clearly, she can not.)

However, don't go knocking my girl, KELLY MONACO. We all know she's hot, petite, AND can dance. I've been a fan of her's for years. Besides, she's from Philly and could kick all our asses.
I guess everyone in West Hartford (where O'HURLEY is originally from) manned the telephones for the dance off to give him the winning vote.

Ok, off to listen to some KELLY CLARKSON on the radio. It's been a half-hour since they've played one of her songs. I think there's an alarm that sounds at the station to alert them it's time for another one to run.
