(From The USA Today -- By Michael McCarthy)
Much of the TV coverage about THE NEW YORK YANKEES has focused on their shaky starting pitching. But ESPN baseball analyst JEFF BRANTLEY refuses to run with the pack.
Brantley corralled slugger GARY SHEFFIELD on Wednesday about a possible trade to the NEW YORK METS for center fielder MIKE CAMERON.
Rather than talking about KEVIN BROWN's tender back, Brantley said the YANKEES need a legitimate leadoff hitter/center fielder. But he thought they should use somebody besides Sheffield to acquire one.
"The problem is not in right field; it's in center field," Brantley said. Good stuff.
