NORMAN ROCKWELL is taking on ESPN -- from the grave.
The company that published THE SATURDAY EVENING POST is suing the all-sports network for using Rockwell's iconic painting BOTTOM OF THE SIXTH in an episode of THE BRONX IS BURNING miniseries without permission.
The magazine "sent an email to ESPN's counsel informing them that ESPN did not have a license to use BOTTOM OF THE SIXTH and put ESPN on notice of the infringement of plaintiff's rights in its copyrighted illustration," ANTHONY LoCICERO, a lawyer for CURTIS PUBLISHING, wrote in the suit filed in MANHATTAN FEDERAL COURT.
